Building Out Your Inner Circle

“Ponder for a long time whether you shall admit a given person to your friendship; but when you have decided to admit him, welcome him with all your heart and soul. Speak as boldly with him as with yourself…Regard him as loyal and you will make him loyal.”

—Seneca, Letters from a Stoic

Building out your inner circle should always be done carefully but when it’s done right it is a beautiful thing. Find good men of value and never cheapen the price of admission – choose from only the best to build out your brotherhood. Men are like building materials, although they all have their uses, only seek to build your house with the materials that are not weak or easily damaged but rather choose those that settle and strengthen throughout the seasons as they weather the storms.

There is so much to be said about men who allow their experiences to mature them. They are increasingly few and far between these days but find them and be one yourself – the reward for this will make you far richer as a man and pay dividends throughout your life.
