(KC STAR) Missouri vaccine incentive lottery concludes with modest results
Missouri’s vaccine incentive lottery may have motivated just over 57,000 Missouri adults to get the COVID-19 shot, according to the Department of Health and Senior Services. The health department conducted the last of several drawings in the program Friday, announcing that 57,117 adults had entered after getting the shot since the program’s announcement in July. By comparison, nearly 600,000 of those who entered the lottery were adults who had already gotten the vaccine by the program’s announcement. The program also had more than 39,000 entries from children who got the vaccine any time this year.

The incentive program was launched in July as Missouri struggled to control a surge in cases driven by the more transmissible delta variant in less-vaccinated communities. Gov. Mike Parson had for weeks demurred on announcing such a program, explaining he did not believe it was the government’s role to pay residents to take the shot, but he softened his tone as the surge intensified. Drawings for the lottery began in August and continued every two weeks.

In total, the state will pay out $9 million to 900 prizewinners, who will each receive $10,000 in either cash or, for the children winners, scholarship accounts. When vaccines were rolled out this spring, Parson’s administration estimated 60% of the population would get a shot. As of Friday, the share of Missouri’s population that had gotten a vaccine was just over 48%, up from about 40% when the incentive program was announced.

(STLPD) Report: Missouri falling short on protecting foster children from going missing

In 2020, the agency, which employs about 2,000 people, had 26% turnover. Budget documents show the division was able to roll over $1.6 million from “increased turnover” of children’s service workers last year.

According to the report, Missouri officials said Department of Social Services employees cannot rely on the agency’s case management system to accurately identify children who are missing from foster care without reviewing individual case files

(DAILYMAIL) Republican support in factory towns and rural areas has DOUBLED in comparison to Democrat gains in cities and college communities in another worrying sign for Biden’s party before 2022

Missouri was one of the states analyzed in a recent report gauging what appears to be a fast dwindle of democrat support in hundreds of counties across America whose population work in manufacturing.

“But regardless of who is right in that debate, the numbers in this
report don’t lie: Democrats have been hemorrhaging millions of
votes in small and midsized working class counties. We cannot elect
Democrats up and down the ballot, let alone protect our governing
majorities, if we don’t address those losses ASAP, and begin to
reverse our fortunes in factory towns.”
